Frequently asked questions

  • If you have questions about whether your child might benefit from speech-language therapy, DON’T WAIT! Seek out an evaluation by an SLP to determine if your child is meeting their developmental milestones. The longer a child goes without intervention, the farther behind they may fall.

  • First, you and your child will participate in an evaluation to discuss your concerns about your child’s communication difficulties. The SLP will comprehensively assess your child’s language and communication skills to determine if speech therapy is right for them. If therapy is recommended, the SLP will provide recommendations and a treatment plan individualized to your child’s needs.

Therapy sessions often last between 30 and 50 minutes, depending on the SLP’s recommendation and your family's schedule. We use a therapy approach rooted in play to teach functional communication skills and language concepts in a natural setting. This is backed by research - children participating in play-based therapy are more engaged, learn more easily, and use their new skills more effectively.
